Google is updating the principle of E-A-T with an additional ‘E’ for experience.
The new E-E-A-T acronym means Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness.
Google’s search quality rater standards have been updated appropriately, with insight into how the company instructs quality raters to assess a content developer’s know-how.
Google’s upgraded search quality rater standards say this about experience:
“Think about the degree to which the content developer has the essential first-hand or life experience for the topic. Numerous types of pages are reliable and accomplish their purpose well when produced by individuals with a wealth of personal experience. For instance, which would you rely on: a product evaluation from somebody who has personally used the item or a “review” by someone who has not?”
In addition to adding experience as an element, Google is positioning renewed focus on trust.

How Google’s Quality Raters Evaluate E-E-A-T
Google’s search quality rater guidelines have numerous chapters evaluating E-E-A-T, from a high to a low level.
Chapter 4.5.2: Lowest E-E-A-T
Chapter 4.5.2 of Google’s search quality rater guidelines states:
“If the E-E-A-T of a page is low enough, individuals can not or need to not use the MC of the page. If a page on YMYL topics is extremely inexpert, it needs to be considered Untrustworthy and rated Lowest. Additionally, Google says a positive credibility can not overcome the absence of E-E-A-T for the topic or purpose of the page.
Chapter 7.3: High Level of E-E-A-T
Chapter 7.3 of Google’s quality rater guidelines has information concerning the criteria for attaining a high level of E-E-A-T.
Relating to demonstrating experience, Google states:
“Pages with High E-E-A-T are reliable or really credible. Experience is valuable for practically any subject. Social media posts and forum discussions are often High quality when they involve individuals sharing their experience. From writing symphonies to reviewing home devices, first-hand experience can make a social media post or discussion page High quality.”
Chapter 8.3 Very High Level Of E-E-A-T
Chapter 8.3 of Google’s quality rater guidelines knows relating to the criteria for accomplishing the greatest level of E-E-A-T:
“Very high E-E-A-T is a distinguishing aspect for Greatest quality pages. A site or material creator who is the uniquely reliable, go-to source for a subject has really high E-E-A-T. A content developer with a wealth of experience might be considered to have really high E-E-A-T for topics where experience is the primary consider trust.
